Virtual hosting
Virtual hosting means that a (shared) server offers service for other domains than its actual name, e.g. the one your ISP provides you with. Virtual hosting of email domains can be done with sendmail. Virtual hosting of web domains can be done with Apache.

O'Reilly offers a sample chapter of their well-known book DNS and BIND. The software product BIND is currently the only name server software that is taken seriously by the Internet community. It is very mature and powerful, and is available for free.

Name server BIND
This server software is one of the most mature Internet software products, comparable to sendmail. You're invited to visit the BIND homepage. You will find information on the software releases, commercial support programs and a very useful mailing list archive.

Newsgroups
There are two news groups that apply to you if you are reading this site. One is comp.protocols.dns.bin which treats common issues related to DNS and BIND. The other is comp.protocols.tcp-ip.domains and deals with domain name issues, a bit similar to the first list.
